STUDENT PROFILE

May 2007

Bryan Shuetz, 37
9th Kyu

Why did you begin martial arts training?

I began training to better myself physically, mentally, and spiritually. I believe that Ninjutsu is a very well rounded art form that improves all aspects of life.

Did you have any previous martial arts training before joining CNC?

I trained with Shidoshi Matt Hildreth in Atlanta, Georgia while in college -13 years ago. I wish I'd never stopped!

What do you like the most about Ninjutsu?

What I like most about Ninjutsu is that it gives a great skill set for defense in any situation. It is a real life art that is very rich in history. I feel like its techniques were born of real situations and those techniques are very applicable today.

What has been the greatest benefit from your training?

The greatest benefit in Ninjutsu training for me is the flexibility and endurance I have come to know since starting at the Columbus Ninjutsu Club.

What has been your biggest challenge?

The biggest challenge of training is trying to keep up with all the young guys!

What advice would you give to a new student?

I would tell the new student to immerse yourself in all of the information and techniques that the Columbus Ninjutsu Club has to offer. I have never experienced such camaraderie among students in any of my schooling, in or out of the classroom. I look forward to getting to training every time I go, and to learn new and exciting techniques and see all of my friends I have made there.  This is truly an experience you do not want to miss!
